The Los Angeles Philharmonic and Music Director Gustavo Dudamel announced the newest recipients of its prestigious Dudamel Fellowships. Early-career conductors Luis Castillo-Briceño, Holly Hyun Choe, Dayner Tafur-Díaz, and Molly Turner will take the baton next to Dudamel for the 2024-’25 season, receiving mentorship, performance opportunities, and invaluable marketability as fellows in the program.
Luis Castillo-Briceño was a conducting fellow at the London Philharmonic during the 2023-’24 season. He was also an Equilibrium Young Artist mentored by Barbara Hannigan and a winner at the Rotterdam International Conducting Competition in 2025.
Holly Hyun Choe is principal conductor of the chamber orchestra Ensemble Reflektor and was former assistant conductor of the Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich under Paavo Järvi. She is a Solti Foundation Career Assistance Award recipient, Taki Alsop Conducting Fellowship scholarship recipient, and participant in the Peter Eötvös Foundation Mentoring Program.
Dayner Tafur-Díaz has already collected several conducting prizes, including the German Conducting Award in 2023 and first prize in the 2022 International Opera Conducting Competition of the Opéra Royal de Wallonie-Liège. He was also one of 20 finalists in the 2023 Mahler Competition.
Molly Turner is a conducting fellow with the New World Symphony and studied under Esa-Pekka Salonen as a Salonen Fellow at LA’s Colburn School of Music.
The four newest Dudamel Fellows join a star-studded group of alumni who have participated in the program, including Elim Chan in 2016-’17, Matthew Aucoin in 2015-’16, Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla in 2012-’13, and Santtu-Matias Rouvali in 2011-’12.
